Dear all, It's been a great festival once again, despite all our shortcomings and limitations, and people enjoyed a true successful
CERNois evening surrounded by colleagues, friends and family. Of course nothing is perfect, so if you would like to make any suggestions,
please send an e-mail to contact-hardronic and we will do our best to make next year's an even better edition.

We would like to thank all the people that helped us make this festival possible:

  • First and foremost, our thanks to the CERN Staff Association and the CERN Management who support us and without which this festival could not take place. Thanks to the other CERN departments/groups/services that support us:
    • The SMB department which helps us in many many ways including the shuttle service, the electricity supply installation, security... We are truly thankful to have their support.
    • The Education, Communications & Outreach ECO group which generously contributes to the organization.
    • The IT department which generously contributes to the organization.
    • The HSE unit that helps us improve the safety and general conditions at our festival every year and very especially Ana Cunha and Laetitia Wohlgemuth.
    • The Fire Brigade which also supports us during the celebration of the festival and is always ready to act in case something might go wrong.
    • The BE department, especially Paul Collier and Delphine Bail, which kindly lets us use building 866 during the festival and lends us some material.
    • Herve Poirel and the EP department which kindly lends us some material for the festival.
  • The MusiClub board and the bands making the backbone of the festival, with extra thanks to:
    • Arek Gorzawski, who helped me coordinate the festival, coordinated the the lighting of the main stage throughout the festival and took care of many many tasks during the previous stages as well as during the festival itself and still found the strength to come help cleaning on Sunday.
    • Simon Baird, who took care of getting the material from the club to the venue and back and furthermore as well of the mixing and set-up of the main stage throughout the whole festival.
    • Tomasz Wlostowski, who took care of the mixing and set-up of the main stage throughout the whole festival.
    • Piotr Traczyk , who helped through the different stages of the preparation and took care of coordinating the lighting of the main stage throughout the festival and still found time to come clean on Sunday.
    • Tom Levens, Sam Carli, Emil Koulouris and Antoni Aduszkiewicz , who were thoroughly exploited during the festival.
  • Christoph Madsen and Noemi Caraban from the CERN Audiovisual Production Service who organized and run the production/recording of the festival, plus all the people who helped out on camera.
  • The rest of the volunteers which helped us out of the goodness of their hearts, especially: Luciana Kolbeck who did several different shifts so that other people could enjoy a great festival.
  • A big thanks to Connie Potter and Chris Thomas who organized the bar, the food stand and the second-hand stuff stall, all for charity. It is a huge effort for a great cause and in their behalf and ours I would like to extend our gratitude to:
    • First and foremost: Carlsberg, The Carlsberg Foundation, Feldschlösschen for their enormous contribution and help, as well as Jeffrey Hangst who made it possible.
    • Mr. Pickwick's Pub

Daniel Vazquez Rivera on behalf of the Hardronic 2017 organization .

Created in 1989 by Silvano de Gennaro, the Hardronic Festival is the opportunity for CERN Staff, Summer Students, users, their friends and families, to come to the site and enjoy all types of live music, games and animations for kids, delicious food and cool drinks.

It started as a very small event, on the terrace of Restaurant 1 in Meyrin. During the first years, the stage was the platform of a CERN truck, lent by the transport group. As it grew in subsequent years, the Festival had to be moved to a larger venue, on the fields of the CERN Prevessin site, near Restaurant 3.

Every year the festival had a different format: one or two days, one or two stages, mid-July or end of August, etc... but most of the time we've been super lucky with the weather.

A real "CERN National Holiday".
